Well, Happy Friday everybody! What a beautiful Chicago day for a parade! I think all the local schools are empty because all the kids ditched to go down to the parade! If you had any doubt when you opened this blog, I assure you this Friday’s blog is 100% Cubs!
For this weeks edition of IT Thing of the Week, we have: Photos, All The Way, Hamilton, sharing the win with loved ones, Harry Caray and Someday. Are you ready, because here we go…
1. The best photos of Chicago celebrating being World Series Champions! The pure joy and emotion captured in these pictures is priceless.
2. Eddie Vedder “All The Way”. Wednesday started with anxious fans and renewed interest in Chicago native and Pearl Jam member Eddie Vedder’s “All The Way” from 2008. All of Chicago was with Eddie in singing “Someday we’ll go all the way” and someday was now!
3. Cast of Hamilton sings “Go Cubs Go”! THIS IS AMAZING!!
4. Harry Caray listens to the broadcast. Harry’s son in law, Coley Newell made sure Harry could hear it loud and clear.
5. Cubs fan keeps his pact with father. 68 year old Wayne Williams long ago made a pact with his father and on November 2nd he kept his word. He drove from North Carolina to a Indiana cemetery 650 miles away to sit and listen at his Dad’s gravesite.
6. Cubs fans dedicate Wrigley Field wall to fans who died before witnessing the Cubs win it all. How totally awesome is this!!! We all know that Chicago has fans that are in their 100’s who were watching on baited breathe, but we all also know we lost some along the way and no one should be left out! Here in Chicago being a Cubs fan is hereditary, something your born to love, and hey if you joined us later on in life, that’s ok, everyone is always welcome at the Friendly Confines!
7. Budweiser brings Harry along for the ride. In this outstanding celebratory Budweiser ad, they bring Harry Caray back to call one last game! I dare you to keep a dry eye!
8. Nike “Someday”. And this is the perfect way to end it with Nike’s latest ad “Someday”.
